Records I Can't Stand: 1

The Cure: The Walk (Fiction, 1983, like that's important in some way)

I don't know much about much but I have learnt how to post tracks - look! - and rather than ramble on about what I like, and why it's so 'amazing ', I am featuring instead the songs I bloody hate, the ones I turn off or shout at. Here are my Desert Island discs in reverse.

The Cure, I quite like. This song, I flipping hate! What say you?

Morning Rob,
I've never been a fan of 'Whiney' Bob Smith, and I used to be quite the goth. This one doesn't register as any better or worse than the others.

One that sets my teeth on edge is 'Needle in a Haystack'. Not sure who it's by. Someone Motown-y.

Sorry! Morning Silvana.

Morning!

Ok, so you don't like it either and that's good enough for me.

But I did used to love a bit of Needle in a Haystack down the teen-disco. Don't know who it is by either but I think I remember a terrible version by Bananarama.

I'm sorry to disagree here, but I simply love this track. It reminds me of pints of snake bite, bright red lipstick, Harmony hairspray in a green bottle that made my hair brittle and Magie Noire perfume by Lancome.

I loved the Needle in a Haystack, Tamla Motown track too!

I am a bit stuck on this one as I love The Cure with all of my stringy-jumpered, ex-goth heart. But this track is just a bit awful, isn't it? I can't turn against anything Bob did really - after all, this man wrote In Your House, the greatest song EVAH RITTON - but if I never hear this again it wouldn't pain me.

This song is dreadful. And I worshiped the Cure at university (along with the Cult, the Sisters of Mercy and the Smiths). Put it in Room 101 forthwith!

Hooray for Spymum!

Lovecats is worse than this. And I still really like Needle in the Haystack which is by the Velvelettes I think.

Rob and Silvana - you are thoroughly to blame for getting me stuck in Youtube for the last half hour!!

Oh dear! I really, really loved the Sisters at the time - now those videos are just painful; ouch!

My old housemate Justine was going out with a boy called Ben and I think he'd just quit as guitarist of Sisters of Mercy at the time. He was very handsome if I remember.
