Fino

I love going out to lunch. So when it was my birthday on Friday, Robert and I both took the afternoon off and met for a date at Fino on Charlotte Street. It's hard to find and it turned out to be in a basement but from the second we stepped through the door, I knew I was going to love it. It was packed and lively, the service was friendly and speedy and the food was exactly what I was hoping for.
We had a selection of eight, all delicious, tapa (including Crisp belly pork, Pulpo a la Gallega, Piementos de Padron, Fino chips with Brava sauce, Donuts with Pedro Ximénez ice cream) and a couple of sherries and Cavas and it came to £101. It's not cheap but it's very very good.

I know this was birthday treat but the cost for tapas is getting silly. We went to Brindias in Borough market and it was very authentic, in that it was was like the middling tapas you can get in any mediocre spanish bar in spain. And yet we had to pay real money for it. Bearing in mind in Madrid we snacked all night on Tapas and bearly paid for any of it even a large portion of tuna pie. Anyway happy birthday the food did look good i was just making a general point.
ps. Patas bravas vs chips with hot sauce.
Also what was the picaddily like did you go?

One of my faves. That pork belly - we ordered two portions just to be on the safe side. And as for the pork cheek...

it was fantastic, but BLTP makes a good point. S and I went to Madrid a few years ago and had more freebies than bills: prawns, ham, drinks, the lot...

As for the picadilly :(
