Époisses de Bourgogne
Speaking of Jeroboam's, we gave Jackie and Geoff our Scrap's changing table a few weeks ago and as a very kind thank you, they sent us this amazing box of cheese. We ate the Brie, Stilton and Red Leicester but saved the Epoisse for our trip to Derby as firstly, we knew they'd love it and also a cheese like that needs to be cut and eaten in one go. You can't wrap it in cling film and put it back in the fridge and a whole cheese in one sitting is a bit much, even for us two. Anyway, we cut it and ate it in near silence then all went for a lie-down. According to Wikipedia, its odour is so pungent that its consumption is banned on French public transport. Unpatuerised, stinky, washed-rind cheese cannot possibly be good for you but blimey....

What a great present - and so much tastier than flowers. Your claim that 'a whole cheese in one sitting is a bit much' sounds like exactly the sort of challenge I relish. Hope you enjoyed it with some good wine!
we can smell it all the way to Wood Vale
My Mum and Dad brought round some Epoisse as a bonus birthday present for me last weekend. I've been putting off breaking into it for fear of the whiff if we fail to see it off quickly, but lordy it's a fine cheese.
We're going to a pop quiz in Raglan tomorrow - perhaps we'll take it with us to share with the winning team!
Miles - I think the quiz participants will wish that we'd stayed in London if you do that.
I've been wondering why the fridge is still stinky....
No denying it, Epoisse is about as stinky as stink cheese gets buts as Miles says, "Lordy it's a fine cheese!"
