Incredible musician, performer guitar innovator with an olympian constitution - he'll be missed in our house - I saw him at Cambridge a couple of years ago, my email about it made The Word letters page..

He was the master. And what great stories of debauchery!!

The story about being nailed under a carpet by Thompson is my favourite Rock 'n' Roll story of all time.
