Venetian Whirl

We're off to Venice tomorrow for a few days and need some good recommendations on where to eat and what to see. Anyone?

you LUCKY things! don't know any good restaurants but a cocktail or two at florian on piazza san marco is heaven. they are so classy they even have special tiny peanut spoons for your snacking delight. (i favour a tintoretto - pomegranate juice & prosecco. or is that a rossini?). To look at? a boat over to isla s giorgio maggiore - the most beautiful building in the world, and you can climb the bell tower and look back over venice. oh blimey can't you stash me in your bag?

Do you think we'll see the scary thing in the red coat?

oh and for all your giant screw-on penis requirements, have a peek at the bronze equestrian statue in teh garden in front of the guggenheim museum as you float past it down teh grand canal - it's called "the glory of the city" or similar, and the man on the horse has a screw on willy. there are several willies that can be screwed-on, and if you're lucky, it'll be the giant one.

Don't just float past the Guggenheim GO THERE it's perfect. The personal collection of the incredible Peggy Guggenheim. The sculpture in the garden alone is enough to make grown men cry (or faint). I am so so envious.

There's a good bar in the food market. That does excellent tapas style stuff. The lido would be good if you've little ones with you.

I found the place it's Cantina Do Mori, San Polo, Calle dei Mori, between Rugo Rialto and the fish market it's in all the guide books but then every place in venice is. I don't about other people but I avoid pizza north of rome.

I'll second the recommendation to go to the Guggenheim. And if you carry on down that bit of town you come to the lookout from where they used to fight pirates. Pirates! Get in.

We went to Da Fiore about ten years ago for H's birthday. It was pricey but fantastic. I don't know if you have to book a long way in advance now. Midweek you might be lucky. (What am I saying? Of course you are lucky - you're off to Venice!)
