I've been hearing a lot of good things about BBC2 new boy
Valentine Warner lately and
one of our lunch guests even requested his plum crumble for pudding yesterday. I watched him make it
here and got the recipe
here. The filling was nice enough but a bit straightforward so I livened it up with some creme de cassis, a couple of star anise and some plump blackberries but the topping itself was spot on. I must start watching the series!

We love Val in our household. He reminds me of a very posh, public school version of an early Jamie Oliver.

We like him too it's good to have cookery programme for people who like to cook all the others seem increasingly obsessed with short cuts and "cheats" some us don't mind puting some effort in to our food, the other day he even made his own pastry.
Oh yum.....must try that this weekend! Proper, proper autumn food!
Did you go to Ayres? Haha!
My Mum texted me tonight to say she fancies him so I tuned in just in time to watch him make the most yummy looking duck breast with lentils. Mmmm. Bet Daddy Gino is worried!
I forgot to watch again! I was glued to Corrie and then flicked over like Jo just in time to see him make that lovely duck. It has absolutely made me want to roast a duck for tea tonight so yes, I think it's a thumbs up for Val. But I don't know about fancying him!
NMoO - I did go to Ayrs to get my eclairs (and three hot sausage rolls!)
