Sale of the Century

The time-waster that was buying my old flat pulled out of the deal yesterday. Apparently he doesn't have any faith in the London housing market. That's reassuring isn't it. Perhaps he could have decided that before he visited a thousand times, drew up lots of plans and made an offer which we then accepted. Anyway: gorgeous, 3 double-bedroom, purpose-built, red-brick mansion flat for sale in sunny Camberwell!

what a tw*t! Why anyone volunteers to put themselves through this (buying/selling property), I don't know. They are going to start showing our house this weekend which means I have to try to hide the vomit stains (baby's, not mine!) on the carpets and the rising damp in the downstairs loo. I expect the only people to want to see this is nosy neighbours. I'm sure you'll sell yours soon! It is a very very nice flat!

Do you fancy doing a part exchange with a lovely 2 bedroom cottage in a conservation area in an " up and coming " part of Mitcham!!

off subject but can I assume your next poll will be asking people to choose between which of their children they love best. Cheese without booze not good, booze without booze not good and I think not having a crisp ever again would make life that bit poorer. I did choose booze however, whiskey isn't the "water of life" for nothing and then there's beer, and stout and cider and campari and gin oh and dark rum......

And Vodka. And wine. And lager...

Thanks Heidi! And good luck with the prospective purchasers this weekend

Pad - excellent idea!

Bltp - choosing between cheese and booze is like choosing between your own children?!?

Brilliant! Does that mean the swap is on then?! We will throw in Pilgrims Cloisters if it is a clincher......

Good luck on the sale of your apartment.

My PIL sold theirs a month ago without going through an agent and were told they wouldn't be able to sell it at that price. Guess what? Their house was sold to the 2nd visitor at the price they wanted and kept receiving calls on their house after that.

I'm from the USA,and I read your posts each time you put something online. I like the recipes, and all of your photos, etc.
Okay,I'm wondering what are 3 double-bedroom sized rooms?
We just call them bedrooms here.
Is that a size thing?
When you sell a house or a "flat',way too many people are nosy and just stop to see what you own,so I end up hiding weird things. But it never fails, everything I have is weird!
So they always look at me strangely, from that day on. I peronally hate having people walk through my places. I end up renting a storage place, and hiding most of the large items i'm going to move anyways, then the place"looks larger" and they buy!
Good luck!

Cooking Ninja - thanks for encouraging story, hopefully we won't have to wait too long for a good offer.

Annonymous - double bedroom just means decent sized, big enough for a couple to sleep in rather than a very small child. People are nosy, it's true but I include myself, I am so nosy! This is a flat I bought years ago and we don't live in it, it is occupied by tenants, so luckily none of our personals are on display.
