I'd go for the beer cheese! By the way, this might interest Silvana, if she hasn't seen it before. It's a food timeline and it's actually fairly entertaining! http://www.foodtimeline.org/index.html
I think the beer cheese sounds quite nice. Bit like a cross between potted cheese and Welsh rarebit. The bacon salt, however, is revolting. Native12, thanks for the link, I'll have a look at that.
It seems almost fitting that the final entry is Deep Fried Coca Cola. Has anybody ever tasted such a lavish dish? I was shocked to see that brown rice was only intoduced to the USA in the 60s! I'm always equally disturb and fascinated at how the Americans eat...

Deep fried beer cheese, smothered in bacon salt, washed down with kwik-mix margaritas!
I'm on me way 'round. Shall I bring the chocolate covered chilli Dorito's ? Or have you got some in?
VS and Native12: this is beginning to sound like a great boy's night... *books stripper*
Books Stripper?!?
I tried to do a deep fried Pizza once, but all the topping and cheese fell off and I just ended up with doughy fried bread. It wasnt very nice.
